At Continental Kid, Your Privacy is a Priority

Continental Kid is committed to protecting your privacy. We respect our customers and understand that you are concerned about privacy.  Consequently, we have instituted policies intended to ensure that your personal information is handled safely and responsibly.  Continental Kid seeks to provide you with a tailored shopping experience where suggestions, questions, and special requests are handled promptly.  We seek to provide products, services, and offers of value to you and your family.  At Continental Kid, we use information from our interactions with you, other customers, and from other parties, to help us achieve that goal.  This Privacy Statement sets forth our current privacy practices with regard to the information we collect. By accessing continentalkid.com, you acknowledge and fully understand Continental Kid’ Privacy Statement and freely consent to the information collection and use practices described in this Website Privacy Statement.  As we continue to develop our website and take advantage of technologies to improve the services we offer, this may change. We, therefore, encourage you to refer to this policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current privacy policy.

Information We Collect

  • When you order from continentalkid.com, we obtain the information we need to complete your transaction.  We collect your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, travel information, and credit card number (with expiration date) or gift card number. We also gather information on the person who will receive any gift you send (e.g., that person's name and address) and we will retain a record of your purchases.
  • When you enter a sweepstakes or contest online, we usually collect your name, address, email address, and phone number. We also may ask you for additional information, such as your age, interests, product preferences, or zip code.
  • If you choose to use or participate in one of our various services, promotions, programs, surveys, or clubs, we may collect additional information.
  • When you submit a question to customer service, we need your email address to respond, and you also may provide us with additional information to help us answer your question.

How we use your Information

Continental Kid uses your personal information to provide you with services and to help us better understand your needs and interests. Specifically, we use your information to help you complete a transaction or order, to communicate with you, to provide service and support, to update you on services and benefits, and to personalize promotional offers.  We may also use your information for marketing and promotional purposes. For example, we send out email and direct mail to our customers about products or events that we think may be of interest to them. We also may send you offers for discounts or free services (e.g., free gift wrap or shipping) on our site.

Credit card information is used only for payment processing and fraud prevention. Sensitive personal information is collected only to facilitate our financial service providers' credit decisions and will be shared with them only with your permission. Credit card information and sensitive personal data are not used for any other purpose by our financial service providers or Continental Kid and will not be kept longer than necessary for providing the services, unless you ask us to retain your credit card information for future purchases.

Information We Share With Others

Continental Kid will not disclose personally identifiable information we collect from you to third parties without your permission, except in responding to your requests for products or services. For Example:

  • When you make a purchase, we may share information about you and your transaction with other companies for the purpose of processing your transaction, including fraud prevention, vendor direct shipping and credit card authorization.
  • Continentalkid.com may team with another Website to conduct a sweepstakes or other event (e.g., a live Web chat). In those cases, each of the participating Websites may collect or receive personal information from you.
  • For some of our products, continentalkid.com may provide you with a link to the supplier of that product so that you may get further information. If you link to the supplier's site, the supplier may collect or receive information about you.

In most of the above situations, these third parties will receive your information because you will be visiting their websites or using their links and, in doing so, you may provide information directly to them. You therefore should refer to their privacy policies to understand how they handle your information and what kinds of choices you have.

On rare occasions, we may be required to disclose customer information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. Also, if the ownership of all or a part of a business within the Continental Kid Family were to change, customer information pertinent to those business operations would likely be transferred to, or licensed for use by, the new owner.

Safeguarding the Information We Collect

We limit the information we provide to outside companies to only information we believe is appropriate to enable them to carry out their responsibilities under our contracts or to offer you products and services we think might be of interest to you. We contractually require that the information provided be used only for the specifically authorized purpose and that its confidentiality be maintained.

Our Use of Cookies and Aggregate Information

Continental Kid may use cookies to personalize or enhance your user experience.  A cookie is a small text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server.  Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer.  Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a Web Server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.

One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time.  For example, if you personalize a web page, or navigate within a site, a cookie helps the site to recall your specific information on subsequent visits.  Hence, this simplifies the process of delivering relevant content and eases site navigation by providing and saving your preferences and login information as well as providing personalized functionality.

Continental Kid reserves the right to share aggregated site statistics with partner companies, but does not allow other companies to place cookies on our website unless there is a temporary, overriding customer value (such as merging into Continental Kid.com a site that relies on third-party cookies). We collect non-personal information about how users navigate through our website. We aggregate this statistical information in order to improve our site, and we may share this information with our affiliates or other outside companies. This aggregated information does not include individual names or personal data, so it does not identify you or any other customer.

You have the ability to accept or decline cookies.  Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies. However, if you choose not to accept cookies, we may not be able to provide you with as exceptional a shopping experience as one that is specifically tailored to your needs.

Continental Kid also may use advertising companies to place our advertising at other sites across the Internet. These advertising companies collect anonymous information about your visits to our website or interaction with our email through the use of web beacons that allows Continental Kid to count users who have visited those pages and to deliver co-branded services.  Continental Kid may include Web beacons in promotional e-mail messages or newsletters in order to determine whether messages have been opened and acted upon.

Some of these Web beacons may be placed by third party service providers to help determine the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns or email communications.  These Web beacons may be used by these service providers to place a persistent cookie on your computer.  This allows the service provider to recognize your computer each time you visit certain pages or emails and compile anonymous information in relation to those page views, which in turn enables us and our service providers to learn which advertisements and emails bring you to our website and how you use the site.  Continental Kid prohibits Web beacons from being used to collect or access your personal information.

The Privacy of Children

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13 on our website. We will not knowingly collect personal information from teens 13 through 15 without disclosing how the information will be used and notifying the teens that they should obtain parents' permission prior to submitting any personal information. For this reason, our online sweepstakes are restricted to entrants who, at a minimum, are at least 13.
