Developmental Values

The Senses

  • The colorful toys and the movement of the colorful beads develop baby's sense of sight.
  • The different sounds: the rustling of beads, the sound made when squeezing the woodpecker's tail, the ding of the bell and the crinkle of the wings, all help develop hearing.
  • The wide range of materials: different fabrics, smooth and textured plastic, provide a wealth of sensations and develop baby's sense of touch.
  • With baby looking, touching and listening she develops her senses and the coordination between them.

Fine Motor Skills

Each of the toys offers several fine motor and eye-hand coordination challenges, and baby must use her fingers and hand muscles in different ways:

  • She must pull the pink ball with her entire hand or knock the woodpecker’s head to hear the bell ring.
  • She must squeeze the woodpecker’s tail with several fingers to hear it squeak.
  • She must hit the flowers on the bottle holder with force in order to make the beads roll around.
  • In this way, baby uses her hands and improves her control of them.

Cognition

As she plays with the toys, baby learns the connection between her actions and their responses:

  • Pulling the pink ball will make the woodpecker peck at the bell.
  • A light tap on the grasshopper will cause it to sway and the beads to rattle around gently, and a harder knock will cause it to bend downwards and the beads to move about faster and the noise to be louder.
  • Squeezing the woodpecker’s tail will cause it to squeak.
